Artech is the superb tilt and turn system from respected Italian hardware manufacturer, AGB.
This is a component of the æPlanaÆ concealed hinge systems, which is available in standard and security configurations. The security versions are capable of passing the PAS24 security test so will help fabricators and installers comply with Document Q. Windows have been successfully tested to 5.5KN, nearly double the requirement of PAS24.
Artech has been developed for assembly lines of all sizes. The gear can be connected via a æCrop & PunchÆ connection system, or it can be easily assembled on a manual line by utilising optional connector plates û æCrop & CoverÆ. These enable manual cropping of the hardware without the need to punch a hole in the cropped faceplate end.
Compression is provided by the adjustable Artech Anti-Burglar cam. These are fitted as standard regardless of which security level is being built. They will work as a compression cam with a standard striker plate or as a security mushroom cam with a security striker. Upgrading to a security window is easy as the fabricator needs to change only the strikers and corner drives.
The cams are fixed in place on the gear via a supporting plate that distributes the lateral load evenly to provide a very smooth action.
Each cam is a single piece construction that provides greater strength than 2-piece cams. Each has +/- 1mm compression adjustment and also +/- 1.5mm height adjustment to allow for installation tolerances.
The standard sash weight is 100KG for surface fit hinges, and 130KG for the rebated jigless and Plana concealed versions.
Most tilt and turn systemsÆ gearboxes are clamped to the drive gear faceplate. ArtechÆs is attached using concealed screw fixings to provide a more attractive linear design.
Concealed behind the drive gearÆs faceplate, the gearbox has elongated sides. This distributes the loading through the handle and its fixings more evenly, contributing further to the smooth operation and extending the working life of the gear.
The anti-mishandling device prevents the sash from entering the tilt and turn positions simultaneously. It also acts as a lift to guide the sash into the turn position so even the heaviest windows close smoothly, minimising wear and tear.
Artech stay arms can be set to tilt to 140mm to provide maximum ventilation, or 80mm to prevent interference with internal window dressings.
Centre locks for the rear and bottom of the sash are available in terminal, croppable terminal and connectable versions to ensure that compression/security locking points are positioned correctly according to whether the window is a standard or high security version. Security windows require locking points as close to the corners as possible.
ArTech hardware is guaranteed for 10 years from installation subject to terms and conditions.
