It uses a star system to determine and signify a product's ability to defend against the four main methods of attack - picking, drilling, bumping and snapping.

The greenteQ Orion TS007 is our top of the range profile cylinder, delivering full 3 star protection, without the need to fit any supplementary security devices such as a cylinder guard or security handle. The external side features a sacrificial break point to hamper attempts to gain entry by snapping and extracting the cylinder. Once this has been broken, the interlocking mechanism engages to prevent further damage to the cylinder. This activates the security function, and the safety of those inside the building is assured as the interlock can be overridden by turning the key through 360°. In the case of a thumbturn cylinder, this is achieved by pushing the button on the thumb-turn knob and rotating it. Normal unlocking and exit can now take place.

The external end is marked with the Kitemark and 3 TS007 stars to deter potential burglars. Orion is supplied with 5 Q-branded dimple keys, while keyed alike pairs are supplied with 6 keys. Additional cut keys can be obtained from the approved online suppliers listed at www.proteQ10guarantee.co.uk. Each Orion TS007 profile cylinder has a 10-year mechanical warranty. The cylinder must be registered online at www.proteQ10guarantee.co.uk for the warranty to be valid. When the cylinder is registered, it is automatically protected by the proteQ10 anti-snap guarantee and should be registered for VBH’s Key Security Scheme. Under the Scheme, additional keys can only be purchased if the customer’s unique password is given. The password is set up when the cylinder is registered for its performance guarantee. If Orion is snapped at the sacrificial break point during an attempted burglary, the remaining internal half goes into interlock mode. This locks the cylinder down, preventing any damage being inflicted on the workings. The door is secure but exit can still be made via the key or by pressing the button on the thumbturn before turning.
